About Eric Brooks
Eric graduated from the New England School of Acupuncture (NESA) with a Masters Degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. He holds a Diplomate in Oriental Medicine by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). His training includes Chinese and Japanese Style of Acupuncture, Orthopedic Acupuncture, Tui Na Bodywork, Qi-Gong, and Chinese Herbal Medicine.
Having specialized in Orthopedic Acupuncture and Pain Management, Eric has served as an acupuncturist at several hospitals and clinics in the New England Area area including Boston Medical Center (Boston), Lemuel Shattuck Hospital (Jamaica Plain), and North Shore Pain and Wellness Center (Peabody).
Eric is also a certified Yoga Instructor 200-Hr (RYT) and Mindfulness Meditation Teacher (MMT). As a yoga instructor he studied in Nepal at the Himalayan International Yoga Academy and Research Center where he completed his 500-hour traditional yoga training. He then became the official yoga instructor for the US Embassy in Nepal. Over the years he has further continued his yoga studies learning unique yoga styles such as Yin Yoga and Trul Khor (Tibetan Yoga).
As a meditation teacher Eric has an extension background in studying Mindfulness Meditation. He has over 15 years of study coming from both from an academic and traditional background. On the academic side he holds a degree in Buddhist Philosophy from UMASS Amherst and the Central Institute of Tibetan Studies in India. His traditional training includes 3 years in retreat at the Odiyan Retreat Center & Monastery in Northern California, under the guidance of Tarthang Rinpoche. Through his years of traditional training Eric has become qualified to teach Mindfulness Meditation receiving his certification from Tibet House, an organization that is overseen by HH The Dalai Lama.
Eric blends together his knowledge of Acupuncture and Herbs with his training in Yoga Therapy and Mindfulness Meditation. He understands the importance of viewing health and wellness through a holistic lens, integrating all aspects of the body, spirit, and mind.
