Pain Management

Orthopedic Acupuncture

Any type of pain issue can be effectively treated with acupuncture. There is a whole cascade of healing mechanisms that are activated when the body receives information from the needle. On a neurological level, the limbic system's reaction to pain is reprogrammed, and endogenous analgesics are released. There is an anti-inflammatory response that controls tissue nitric oxide levels and cytokine production when treating diseases like osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis. Acupuncture also encourages the production of stem cells, which in turn encourages the regeneration of new tissue.

Orthopedic acupuncture, commonly referred to as Trigger Point Therapy or Dry Needling, is a different approach of treating muscular-skeletal dysfunctions. This technique can be used to relieve acute or chronic muscle stress and restore normal muscle function. This process can be accelerated by the electroacupuncture approach.

Electro Acupuncture

Electro Acupuncture

Electro-Acupuncture (EA) is an effective method of treating musculoskeletal problems, similar to a TEN’s unit used in physical therapy. But, where a TEN’s unit uses pads that only touch the skin, in electro-acupuncture current is generated through the acupuncture needles and is able to target deeper muscles and structures. Research into Neuro-Acupuncture has also shown that different pulsating frequencies of electrical stimulation is able to release our natural pain killing endorphins.

Herbal Sports Medicine

When treating any pain condition we are not only just trying to alleviate the symptom of pain but we are thinking about the health and quality of the tissues involved. Chinese Herbal Medicine both internal and external have the ability to support the healing process. We can use different combinations of herbs to treat both acute and chronic conditions. With herbs we treat strains, sprains, fractures, herniations. and even arthritis.
